1st Birthday - Minnie Mouse Themed

"Time goes by so fast when you have kids, so enjoy every moment."

That comment used to annoy me when I was pregnant because of how much I heard it, but it's the truest thing I have ever been told. My daughter turned a year old. Where the heck did the past year go? I feel like we just brought her home from the hospital! Time goes by so fast, so that means you have to enjoy every moment because you'll never have that exact moment again.

This past year has been by far the best year of my entire life, I have loved, laughed and cried more times than I can count. This year was magical, it was something I never even dreamed of. The first year of motherhood was the hardest of my life, but I have never been more blessed.

For M's first birthday party we had a Minnie Mouse themed party because she is obsessed with Mickey & Minnie Mouse. Everything we did was DIY because we were trying to not break the bank, and my husband is extremely handy. The amount of balloons I blew up that weekend was unbelievable, I blew up over 300 by myself with no pump.. yes I am crazy. My cousin painted some pots pink and balls gold to make cute decorations.

Having all the food completely vegan was very important to us, because our daughter had never had any animal products.

I really wanted a wall with a balloon outline and the Minnie Mouse outline on the wall. (I'll post pictures of everything and go into a little more detail.) This was my first party I ever planned and executed myself, and I had a lot of help from my husband and family which was incredible because they put up with me. When it comes to holidays and parties I go a little crazy because I am a perfectionist, so I'm grateful they all stuck around to help me make Mad's birthday party a smashing success.

We've Got Ears Say Cheers - we bought dollar store picture frames and painted them gold and printed out customized prints.

We bought plain flower pots and painted them pink with gold polka dots, and also painted gold the styrofoam balls. Thanks to my cousin for doing this, so creative!

This was my favorite part of the whole entire party, the Minnie Mouse wall. I blew up a few hundred balloons and my mom helped make this beautiful balloon wall backdrop. We took three balloons and tied them together then wrapped them around the bamboo sticks.

Our living room walls are blue so I needed to make it pink for a day, by doing this we got a few yards of pink fabric at Joanns then pinned it to the wall. To get the polka dots we bought gold/glitter card stock paper and cut them in circles. Super DIY, and I LOVE how it turned out.

I wanted a wall with pictures of Mads, so we bought this pallet with an "M" on it and printed out photos using Shutterfly to put around it.

All of the food was homemade and vegan, we had mostly desserts but some savory options as well. The party was in the spring so we made a pasta salad to the meal spring themed as well.

1st birthday party was a complete success and I was so happy with how everything turned out. I was nervous going into it because everything was DIY and I am not the most creative person, but I proved myself wrong and everything was beyond what I could have asked for. The best part was my daughter had so much fun being around people who love her and that's all I could've asked for.

22 Things I learned in 22 Years

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday, and so far in my life I have learned a few things I wanted to share with you guys, so here's 22 things I have learned in my 22 years of life:

Easter With A Baby

Happy Easter 2018! Growing up in my household always celebrated Easter, and it has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love everything about this day.

Mads - Eleven Months

Eleven months, almost one. This month flew by, and we are planning her first birthday. Wow. It's mind-blowing to me that she is almost one. This year is just flying by, and I wish I could find the pause button.

Five Ways to Reduce Stress

Becoming a mother was the greatest thing to ever happen to me, and I'm sure you all feel the same. But with that comes the responsibility of taking care and shaping them into becoming strong and independent people. It's the most rewarding job in the world, but it can be exhausting.

Stress is inevitable and there's no way to avoid it, so let's embrace it. It's actually a good thing to have some stress in your life, it means you are living. Now when people start seeing issues is when they have too much of it in their life. We have all experienced those times when we feel completely overloaded with life, and everything seems to be falling down on us at once. The stress can be too much and it can feel like you won't make it to tomorrow. Trust me, we have all been there, multiple times.

I'm here today to help you manage that stress effectively, in ways I have found helpful to me throughout my life. Even though I found these tips to be helpful to me, they don't prevent stress 100% because like I said you will always have some stress. But, learning to maintain and reduce is can help you get through those hard days. So here are my top five tips to reduce stress:

Peanut Butter Vegan Brownies

I haven't talked about it much on the blog yet but we are transitioning to plant based and then eventually vegan, it was a big decision for our family but we agreed it was the best for our health and our daughters. I'll make a post about it soon. Anyway, I have always had a sweet tooth especially for brownies, I kid you not I used to eat half a pan in one sitting (don't judge me), so I decided to find a good brownie recipe that I love.

Mads - Ten Months

Ten months old, wow. Each month seems shorter and shorter when you have a child, I wish it could all slow down. Watching her grow is so magical, and as the months go on she forms her personality more and more, it's so fun to experience. I can tell though, I am definitely going to have my hands full when she is a toddler, little miss sass.
